Zelensky Claims War Would 'End Sooner' Under Trump as U.S. President

Ukrainian President Zelensky said Russia's war will "end sooner" if Donald Trump assumes U.S. president office, in an interview with Ukrainian media (Suspline).

Kyiv: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Russia's war against his country will "end sooner" once Donald Trump assumes office as president of United States (US).

“It is certain that war will end sooner with policies of team that will now le White House. This is ir approach, ir promise to ir citizens.” Zelensky said while speaking to a Ukrainian media (Suspline)

 Zelensky said he h a "constructive exchange" with Trump after his victory in U.S. presidential election during ir phone call.

He did not mention if Trump h me any demands concerning potential talks with Russia, but noted that he h not received any statements from him that contricted Ukraine's stance.

"must do everything so that this war ends next year, ends through diplomatic means". Zelensky said.

Zelensky mentioned that U.S. legislation permits him to meet with Trump only after his inauguration in January.

Trump on Russia-Ukraine War

war between Russia and Ukraine has been ongoing since late February 2022. During his U.S. presidential campaign, Donald Trump criticized tens of billions of dollars in aid provided to Ukraine by current U.S. ministration since conflict began.

Trump has repeatedly claimed that he could resolve conflict within 24 hours if he became president, though he never provided details on how he would accomplish this.

Trump's priority is to end war and halt what he describes as a drain on U.S. resources, particularly in form of military aid to Ukraine.
