Delhi Metro Bike Taxi: Delhi Metro has launched a new service for its customers, where they can book bike taxi rides from the official Delhi Metro app, DMRC Momentum (Delhi Sarthi 2.0). DMRC claims it will reduce the customer’s juggle between multiple ride-hailing applications to book rides. This facility provides two types of Bike taxis. The benefits of this facility are that these electric bikes help reduce the carbon footprint, while women-driven bike taxis are claimed to ensure a secure commute for female passengers.

Let us have a look at the details of the Bike Taxi Service:

There are two types of services launched by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation:

Rydr

Rydr aims to provide an efficient service for all Delhi metro passengers. The company claims that this bike taxi service will be focussing on optimising rider routes and ensuring shorter, more efficient travel times.

Sheryds – For Women, By Women

This bike taxi service is specially catered for women and is designed to meet the needs and preferences of female metro commuters. This section of rides will consist of trained and verified female riders. According to the company, it offers women drivers an opportunity to become breadwinners.  

Features of this initiative:

The scooters will come with GPS connectivity, which will allow for real-time ride monitoring. For convenient bookings, there is a mobile application for easier bookings.

Pricing of the bike taxi:

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation offers this service as follows, the pricing starts at a minimum charge of Rs 10 followed by Rs 10 per kilometre for the first 2 kilometres, and thereafter, Rs 8 per kilometre.

Availability of Bike Taxi:

It is presently available from 12 Delhi Metro stations namely, Dwarka Sec-21, Dwarka Sec-10, Dwarka Sec-14, Dwarka Mor, Janakpuri West, Uttam Nagar East, Rajouri Garden, Subhash Nagar, Kirti Nagar, Karol Bagh, Millennium City Centre Gurugram and Palam. A total of 50 Sheryds and 150 Rydr will be operating from these stations in a radius of around three to five kilometre between 08:00 AM and 09:00 PM.
