Ola Electric unveils e-scooter S1X starting at Rs 79,999

Ola Electric announced on Tuesday the launch of its latest entry-level electric scooter, the S1X, at an introductory price of Rs 79,999. The launch is part of the company's strategy to challenge its traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) counterparts.
During a customer event held at the Ola Future Factory in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu, company Founder and CEO Bhavish Aggarwal introduced the new S1X, available in three variants: the S1X with a 2 kwh battery, the S1X with a 3 kwh battery, and the S1X+ with the same 3 kwh battery but featuring enhanced connectivity features.

The introductory pricing for the S1X with a 2 kwh battery variant is set at Rs 79,999 for the first week, after which it will be priced at Rs 89,999. Bookings are open immediately, and deliveries are scheduled to commence by December. The S1X variant with a 3 kwh battery will be available at an introductory price of Rs 89,999 for the initial week, transitioning to Rs 99,999 afterward. This variant can be booked right away, with deliveries beginning in December.

The S1X+ variant, offering advanced connectivity features, will debut at an introductory price of Rs 99,999 for the first week, eventually rising to Rs 1,09,999. Bookings are open for this model as well, with deliveries expected by the end of September.
Aggarwal said that the S1X and S1X+ differ mainly in software and connectivity features. The S1X offers a range of 151 kilometres on a single charge and can achieve a top speed of 90 km/h.
He highlighted the transformative impact of these new scooters on the traditional internal combustion engine landscape, asserting that they symbolise the end of the ICE era.

In addition to the S1X series, Ola Electric also introduced the second-generation S1Pro, priced at Rs 1,47,499 (ex-showroom). While it is available for booking immediately, deliveries are set to begin in mid-September.
The Ola Electric portfolio now has various models, including the S1X (2 kwh), S1X, S1X+, S1Air, and S1 Pro, with prices ranging from Rs 89,999 to Rs 1.47 lakh.
The company also presented its lineup of electric motorcycles in categories such as cruiser, adventure, roadster, and supersports, all designed to be manufactured in India for a global audience.
