Cars designed on unique themes attract tourists in Hyderabad

An automobile enthusiast from Hyderabad named Sudhakar is drawing tourists from across the nation to take a look at his collection of bizarre cars. "Making cars is my hobby since childhood. While I was in the United States in the 90s, I saw a skating shoe car in a carnival which inspired me to make some wacky designs on my own. A shoe-shaped car was my first design, followed by one that resembles brinjal and another one a helmet," said Sudhakar, owner of Sudha Car Museum in Hyderabad. The artist claimed that making vintage cars requires a lot of work as everything in the car including the brass, lantern and coach requires wood furnishing.

'People enjoy seeing something different and unique'

Discussing his artistic designs, Sudhakar said that he has also designed buses including a 70 seater bus, a double-decker bus among others. "People enjoy seeing something different and unique," he said. He has staged several shows near Tank Bund (Hussain Sagar) in the 90s and early 2000s, which were well received by the public who were amazed to see the colourful creations. After that, he decided to only create unique cars, he said.

Theme based Cars

Now, the artist makes the cars according to the occasion such as a football-shaped car for FIFA world cup, a tree-shaped car on the Christmas Eve, ladoo-shaped car on Ganpati, etc. "These cars are made up of scrap collected from the junkyard and each car has a different suspension and different wheel placement, which takes about three months to a whole year to make. At present, I have 55 wacky cars and my target is to reach 100. It might take about 10 to 15 years to achieve my target", Sudhakar claims.

Shilparamam, Hyderabad

Shilparamam is another tourist attraction in Hyderabad which is an arts and crafts village located in Madhapur, Hyderabad. The village has an ethnic theme with museums and a recreational area. The government created Shilparamam to promote and preserve Indian arts and crafts and also to encourage artisans. It is also a tribute to all cultural and traditional craftsmen of Telangana. Ethnic festivals are hosted in the village all-year around and tourists are welcomed to experience it.
