General Atlantic in talks to acquire Actis
The prospective acquisition, if finalised, would augment General Atlantic's existing assets under management by approximately $12.7 billion.
US-based private equity firm General Atlantic is currently engaged in discussions to acquire Actis, a prominent UK infrastructure investor, according to the media reports. This development emerged shortly after Actis submitted documents for an initial public offering earlier this month.
Sources familiar with the matter indicated that the prospective acquisition, if finalised, would augment General Atlantic's existing assets under management by approximately $12.7 billion, expanding its current $77 billion portfolio. Neither General Atlantic nor Actis has provided immediate comments in response to Reuters' inquiries.
The reported talks coincide with General Atlantic's recent confidential filing for its own initial public offering this December. Established in 1980, General Atlantic boasts a diverse investment history, having backed over 500 companies to date. Its current portfolio encompasses 225 entities, including global brands like fast-fashion retailer Shein, India's digital payments enterprise PhonePe, and self-driving technology pioneer Mobileye, as detailed on its official website.
