RITES partners with Oil India to develop Assam township into smart city

RITES Ltd, a transport infrastructure consultancy and engineering firm, recently inked an agreement with Oil India Ltd, as per an exchange filing. The collaboration aims to transform the Duliajan Township in Assam into a mini smart city.

Under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), RITES is set to conduct a comprehensive study, evaluate the existing infrastructure, and devise a feasible design to upgrade the township, currently managed by Oil India.

The partnership intends to refurbish the township, focusing on several infrastructure aspects including drainage system assessment and redesign, the formulation of a detailed project report (DPR) for solid waste management integration, evaluation of road and traffic networks, and planning for parking facilities.

RITES will leverage its expertise in various domains such as building structures, horticulture, and beautification for this development project.

Despite this development, RITES Ltd witnessed a 1.7 per cent decline in its shares, settling at Rs 474 on the BSE.
