Tamil Nadu can be a key hub for Taiwan firms to invest: CII

A 15-member delegation representing the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has undertaken a mission to explore opportunities for enhancing collaboration with Taiwan across various industrial sectors, according to a senior official.

The delegation, led by G R Gopi Kumar, Convenor of CII Tamil Nadu Textile Panel, delved into areas of mutual interest, with a particular focus on man-made fabrics, sustainable textiles, and technical textiles. They extended an invitation to Taiwanese companies to invest in Tamil Nadu.

Kumar emphasised, “Given the shared economic and commercial interests between India and Taiwan, particularly in the field of technical textiles, we believe that our successful delegation will facilitate businesses in leveraging each other's strengths and establishing strong trade partnerships.”

The delegation's primary goal was to uncover and cultivate trade prospects between Taiwan and Tamil Nadu, with a special emphasis on functional fabrics, smart initiatives, and sustainability efforts, among other sectors.

Kumar further highlighted, “In the broader context of India and specifically Tamil Nadu, we envision the state as an ideal destination for Taiwanese companies to enhance their global presence in the textile product supply chain.”

As part of their visit to Taiwan, the delegation attended the 27th Taipei Innovative Textile Application Show, a renowned hub for sourcing innovative textiles in the Asian region. 

Additionally, the Indian industry representatives engaged in fruitful discussions with key organisations, including the Director General of the Chinese National Association of Industry and Commerce, India Taipei Association, and the Taiwan Textile Research Association, among others.
