Change of leadership at Sapta Shakti Command as Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth takes charge

Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth assumed the leadership of Sapta Shakti Command on November 1, 2023, during a solemn ceremony at the Prerna Sthal, Jaipur Military Station. In a gesture of deep respect, he paid homage to the Bravehearts who have made sacrifices in the line of duty. Lieutenant General Seth, an alumnus of the National Defence Academy in Khadakwasla and the Indian Military Academy in Dehradun, has succeeded Lieutenant General BS Raju, who retired on October 31, 2023.

Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth boasts an illustrious military career, having served in various significant command and staff roles. He has commanded Skinner's Horse, an Armoured Brigade, a Counter Insurgency Force in Jammu and Kashmir, and a Strike Corps on the Western Front. His prior assignment before taking command of the South Western Command was as the General Officer Commanding of the Delhi Area. 

Throughout his career, Lieutenant General Seth has held key staff appointments, including Brigade Major of an Independent Armoured Brigade, Assistant Military Secretary at the Military Secretary Branch, Brigadier General Staff (Operations) at HQ South Western Command, and three tenures in different branches at the Army Headquarters. 

International experience and instructional roles 

Lieutenant General Seth has also contributed as an Instructor and Assistant Adjutant at NDA, Khadakwasla, and served as a Colonel Instructor at the School of Armoured Warfare, The Armoured Corps Centre and School in Ahmednagar. Notably, his overseas deployment includes a tenure with the United Nations Angola Verification Mission-III (UNAVEM-III) from 1995 to 1996, where he served as an Operations Officer.

Upon taking command, Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth extended his warmest greetings to all ranks of Sapta Shakti Command, including Veer Naris, Veterans, Defence Civilian Employees, and their family members. His appointment to lead Sapta Shakti Command marks a significant moment in his career and in the ongoing efforts to ensure the security and preparedness of this strategic military command.
