In a significant move aimed at fortifying the security forces in the region, Director General of Police (DGP) Jammu and Kashmir, Dilbag Singh, presided over a flag-off ceremony at Armed Police Complex Zewan and CTC Lethpora, during which a fleet of 160 operational and tactical vehicles was dedicated to J&K Police.

The DGP lauded the efforts of ADGP (Hqrs) Mr M.K Sinha and his team in procuring these vehicles, emphasizing their crucial role in strengthening the force. The majority of these vehicles will support J&K Policemen working on the anti-terror front, enhancing security across the region.

Rakshak: More than just vehicles

DGP Dilbag Singh emphasized that these vehicles are more than mere transportation; they play a pivotal role in protecting personnel and maintaining a safe and secure environment. These vehicles, often referred to as "Rakshak," bear the marks of their struggle in strengthening peace and tranquility in the Union Territory.

The DGP expressed that maintaining peace and tranquility is a challenging task, and protecting and sustaining it is an even greater challenge. He noted that these new vehicles will be invaluable in addressing this challenge.

Updates on security and LoC

Dilbag Singh stressed that J&K Police has emerged as a much stronger force, equipped with greater resources and an unwavering resolve to face any challenges. This resilience is reassuring for the security situation in the region. Regarding a recent incident involving an injured police officer, the DGP explained that the officer was shot while playing cricket by a terrorist. While the officer is recovering, Dilbag Singh cautioned that threats are still present and vigilance is crucial.

On the Line of Control and International Border, the DGP assured that arrangements are firmly in place, and troops deployed on the borders exhibit high morale and vigilance. Recent encounters with terrorists have primarily occurred near the Line of Control, indicating the robustness of the border security grid.

DGP Singh warned that Pakistan agencies are attempting to push more terrorists into the area. However, Indian forces remain alert and fully prepared to counter any ill-intentions from across the border. The dedication of these vehicles marks a significant step in strengthening the security apparatus in the region, highlighting the resolve of the J&K Police to ensure the safety and well-being of the local population.
