‘Ek Saal Barbaad': UPSC Aspirant Denied Entry For Arriving Late, Parents Breakdown | Viral Video
The UPSC Prelims 2024 was conducted in 2 shifts on Sunday, with the morning session for GS paper 1 starting at 9:30 am.
New Delhi: A UPSC Civil Service Prelims candidate was denied entry to an exam centre in Gurugram due to late arrival. A video has also been doing rounds on the social media where her parents can be seen in tears and anger over the incident.
In the viral video, the aspirant’s mother is seen unconscious while her father wails in distress. The aspirant tries to console him, saying, "Papa! Paani piyo. Kyun aise kar rahe ho? Papa, hum agli baar de denge. Kuch aisi baat nahi hai (Papa, please have water and calm down. Why are you behaving like this? I will appear for the exam next year. It's not a big deal)."
The distraught father laments, "Ek saal gaya baabu hamara (A year has been wasted)," to which the daughter reassures him, saying, "Koi baat nahi! Naa umar nikali jaa rahi (It's not a big deal. I am still young)."
The video, shared on Sunday, has garnered over 192,000 views, sparking widespread empathy from social media users toward the aspirant and her
parents.
Sharing the video, user Sakshi expressed, "Heartbreaking video. Parents accompanying their daughter for today's UPSC Prelims exam were devastated as she was denied entry for arriving late. They reached the gate of S.D. Adarsh Vidyalaya, Sector 47, Gurugram at 9 am for the 9:30 am exam but were not allowed in by the school principal."
Commenting on the incident, another user remarked, "She remained composed despite her mother's tears, a mark of a good UPSC candidate but heartbreaking to see her mother cry."
The UPSC Prelims 2024 was conducted in two shifts on Sunday, with the morning session for GS paper 1 starting at 9:30 am and the afternoon session for GS paper 2 (CSAT) beginning at 2:30 pm.
