CAT 2024 Registration Begins on August 1; How To Apply, Eligibility Criteria, Exam Pattern Here

New Delhi: The online registrations for the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2024 will begin on August 1. Candidates who wish to appear for IIM CAT 2024 can apply through the official website- iimcat.ac.in. Read on for full details on important dates, eligibility criteria, exam pattern, steps to apply for the exam. 

The computer-based test will be conducted on November 24, 2024, across three sessions. The registrations will begin on August 1 and end on September 13.

CAT 2024: How To Apply

• Visit the official website- iimcat.ac.in
• Click on the 'Register' tab 
• Read the instructions and fill out the required details
• Candidate will then get their user ID and password on their registered email address and mobile number 
• Log in using the user ID and password 
• Fill out the IIM CAT form 
• Pay the application fee and submit.

CAT 2024 Important Dates:

- Registration Opens: August 01, 2024 (10:00 am)
- Registration Closes: September 13, 2024 (5:00 pm)
- Admit Card Download: November 05 – November 24, 2024
- Test Date: November 24, 2024
- Result Declaration: Second week of January 2025 (Tentative)

CAT 2024 Eligibility Criteria

• To be eligible to apply for CAT, students must have a Bachelor’s Degree in any stream from a recognised university.
• However, final-year students awaiting graduation are also eligible to apply.
• 50% aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA is required for CAT enrollment.
• A minimum of 45% marks is required for students applying under SC/ST/PWD categories

CAT 2024 Registration Fees:

- ₹1250 for SC, ST, and PwD category candidates.
- ₹2500 for all other categories.

Candidates need to pay the registration fee only once, regardless of the number of institutes they are applying to. Fees are non-refundable under any circumstances.

The CAT will be conducted in approximately 170 test cities. Candidates can select up to five preferred cities. The list of test cities is subject to change at the discretion of CAT authorities.

CAT 2024 Exam Details

Duration of the Test: The duration of the test will be 120 minutes. The test will have the following three sections: 

Section I: Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension 
Section II: Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning
Section III: Quantitative Ability 
Candidates will be allotted exactly 40 minutes for answering questions in each section and they will not be allowed to switch from one section to another while answering questions in a section. A mock exam to understand the format of the test will be available on the CAT website.

What is CAT?

CAT is a national-level MBA/PGDM entrance test held for admission of students to 20 IIMs across the country. Notably, scores secured by the candidates in the CAT scores are accepted by over 1000 B-schools. It is believed to be one of the toughest examinations every year. Around 2,00,000 candidates apply for the CAT exam to get admission to more than 5000 MBA/PGDM seats. Admission to IIMs is based on the CAT score and percentile.
