GATE 2025 Registration Last Date Today: Top 7 Points To Note Before Applying

GATE 2025: Today is the last date to register for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2025. Aspirants can apply online at gate2025.iitr.ac.in.

GATE 2025: Today is the last date to register for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2025. Aspirants can apply online at gate2025.iitr.ac.in. GATE 2025 registration began on August 28. Aspirants can register online at gate2025.iitr.ac.in. Candidates must remember the following important points before applying for the exam. 

GATE 2025: Important Points To Note

1. A valid GATE score can be used for seeking admission to Master’s programs and direct Doctoral programs in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture/ Science/ Commerce/ Arts/ Humanities; and Doctoral programs in relevant branches of Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture/ Science/ Commerce/ Arts/ Humanities, in the institutions supported by the MoE and other Government agencies. Many Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) have been using the GATE score in their recruitment process.

GATE 2025 Exam Pattern

2. GATE 2025 will have 30 test papers comprising full papers and sectional papers. The test papers will be in English language in the computer-based mode. The duration of the exam will be three hours. Candidates will have to appear for a general aptitude (GA) paper along with their chosen subjects. 

3. There will be negative markings for wrong answers. For a wrong answer chosen in an MCQ, there will be a negative marking. For a 1-mark MCQ, a 1/3 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer. For a 2-mark MCQ, a 2/3 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer. There is no negative marking for wrong answer(s) to MSQ or NAT questions. There is no partial marking in MSQ.

Special Arrangements for PwD Candidates

4. PwD candidates with benchmark disability greater than 40% are eligible for compensatory time of one hour. PwD candidates with less than 40% disability and having difficulty in writing are eligible for compensatory time subject to the production of certificates as required.

GATE Score For Scholarship 

5. Qualifying GATE score can be used for seeking financial assistance towards Master’s programs and direct Doctoral programs in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture/ Science/ Commerce/ Arts/ Humanities; and Doctoral programs in relevant branches of Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture/ Science/ Commerce/ Arts/ Humanities, in the institutions supported by the MoE and other Government agencies.

Financial Assistance given to M.Tech students is Rs. 12,400 per month and is generally paid for 22 months. PG Scholarship (GATE/GPAT) Financial Assistance given for PhD programs (Direct PhD after B.E./B.Tech/M.Sc equivalent with a valid GATE score) is Rs. 37,000 per month for the first two years and Rs. 42,000 per month from the third to the fifth year. (Ministry of Finance, Department of Expenditure Circular No. 33(14)PFC-II/2018 dated June 21, 2023.)

6. BSBE Dept., IIT Kanpur https://www.iitk.ac.in/bsbe/ will be admitting MTech students through the GATE 2025 examination.

7. PSU : NPCIL will be using GATE 2025 results of CE, CH, EC, EE, IN, and ME test papers for recruitment.

This year, the Indian Institute of Technology ( IIT ) Roorkee is the organising institute for GATE 2025. The last date to register with a late fee is October 7. IIT -Roorkee will conduct GATE 2025 on February 1, 2, 15, and 16.

How to Register for GATE 2025

  • Visit the official website: https://gate2025.iitr.ac.in/ 
  • Under the ‘Application’ tab, click on the ‘Apply Online’ tab
  • Register yourself by clicking on ‘Register Here’ 
  • Now, log in using your enrollment ID/ Email address and password.
  • Fill out the form and choose your combination of papers 
  • Pay the application fee and submit it.

Last date to register for GATE 2025: September 26
Last date to register with an additional late fee: October 7
GATE 2025 Admit Card: January 2, 2025.
Exam Dates: February 1, 2, 15, 16, 2025

GATE 2025 Exam

IIT Roorkee will conduct GATE 2025 exams between February 1 and 16 in two shifts:

Forenoon session: 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM (IST)
Afternoon session: 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM (IST)

GATE 2025 Application Fee

Candidates will need to pay an application fee to finalize their registration. The fee structure is as follows:
SC/ST/PwD categories and female candidates: ₹900
All other candidates: ₹1,800.
