BREAKING | Maharashtra Govt Postpones MPSC Civil Services Prelims Exam Amid Protests
MPSC Prelims Exam Postponed: The Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) has postponed the Maharashtra Civil Services Combined Preliminary Examination 2024
MPSC Prelims Exam Postponed: The Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) has postponed the Maharashtra Civil Services Combined Preliminary Examination 2024, amid protests. The exam was scheduled for August 25, 2024. A new exam date will be announced soon.
"In the commission meeting held today, it was decided to postpone the Maharashtra Gazetted Civil Services Combined Preliminary Examination 2024, scheduled for August 25, 2024. The exam date will be announced soon," the MPSC said in a post on X.
Aspirants in Pune were protesting for the postponement of the MPSC exam from Tuesday night. The main reason behind the demand for postponement is a clash of dates with the IBPS exam, which is also scheduled for August 25, 2024, affecting candidates appearing for both exams. They are also demanding the inclusion of 258 posts from the Agriculture Department in the recruitment exam.
Earlier, NCP (SP) Chief Sharad Pawar expressed his support for the candidates protesting in Pune, demanding the postponement of the MPSC prelims exam. Pawar warned that if the government does not clarify its stance by Thursday, he will join the protest to advocate for the candidates.
NCP (SP) legislator Rohit Pawar joined the agitation, sitting alongside the protesting candidates. The protesters are also calling for the selection of 258 posts from the Agriculture Department to be conducted through the MPSC exam.
"It is the responsibility of the state government to consider the interests of students taking the MPSC exam… However, it seems the rulers are not taking it seriously. If the government does not clarify its stand by tomorrow (Thursday), I will go to the agitation venue and take part in the protest to ensure justice for the candidates," Sharad Pawar said in a post on X late Wednesday night.
