NEET, NET Fiasco: Supreme Court to Hear Fresh Petition Against NTA Shortly

New Delhi: The Supreme Court of India is set to hear a fresh petition today concerning the NEET-UG fiasco. The petition, filed under civil cases, seeks fresh admissions and has raised serious concerns over alleged irregularities in the examination.

The case, listed as Diary No. 27585-2024, titled Sabareesh Rajan versus National Testing Agency (NTA) and Others, will be heard by a bench comprising Hon'ble Mr. Justice Abhay S. Oka and Hon'ble Mr. Justice Rajesh Bindal.  Advocate Divakar Kumar is representing the petitioner.

The NEET UG fiasco has been a contentious issue, with multiple allegations of irregularities and malpractices in the examination process. Earlier, the Supreme Court had refused to halt the ongoing NEET counselling sessions but had demanded a response from the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the central government.

The petitioners are now seeking an investigation by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) into the alleged irregularities. They have urged that the accused be brought under the purview of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) to ensure a thorough probe and accountability.

Several arrests have been made in Bihar and Godhra, Gujarat in connection with NEET paper leak issue. The accused have confirmed that the paper was leaked and the questions matched the actual question papers. The matter has been handed over to CBI and the probe is going on. 

As the Supreme Court convenes to hear this critical case, all eyes are on the potential implications for NEET UG aspirants and the future of medical admissions in India.
