Rajalakshmi Parthasarathy, noted educationist passes away; R Ashwin, AR Rahman, Siddharth pay respects
Rajalakshmi Parthasarathy, eminent educationist and founder of Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan (PSBB) Group of Schools, passed away in Chennai on Tuesday. R Ashwin, AR Rahman, Siddharth paid tributes.

Rajalakshmi Parthasarathy, eminent educationist and founder of Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan (PSBB) Group of Schools, passed away in Chennai on Tuesday. Several celebrities like Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Palaniswami, AR Rahman, Ravichandran Ashwin, Siddharth, Anirudh Ravichander, Chinmayi Sripaada, Radhikaa Sarathkumar expressed their sadness while conveying their condolences to her family and well-wishers.
Rajalakshmi Parthasarathy earned the moniker Mrs YGP from her husband Y G Parthasarathy, who was an actor and playwright. Her son Y G Mahendran is also an actor. As per reports, she was rushed to a private hospital in the city after she collapsed at her residence and complained of breathlessness. As per reports, she suffered a cardiac arrest.
Emotional tributes
The celebrities called her an ‘institution unto herself,’ ‘visionary educator’, ‘great lady’, ‘titan’, ‘An example for many generations to come’ and the ‘epitome of positivity, self confidence, courage and kindness.’ They termed her legacy as the ‘stuff of legend’ that produced ‘some unbelievable human beings to serve this world’. The stars, while expressing how much the PSBB family would miss her, prayed for her soul to rest in peace.
Glorious career
Mrs YGP had founded the PSBB school in 1958, where she taught only 13 students under a thatched roof. By 2010, around 10,000 students were estimated to be studying at her group of schools She was felicitated with the Padma Shri honour in 2010.
