XLRI Jamshedpur effectively administered the XAT exam 2024 on January 7, conducting the computer-based test across 80+ cities nationwide. Feedback from candidates suggests that the XAT 2024 exam presented a moderately difficult challenge. Approximately 1.35 lakh candidates registered for XAT 2024, marking a notable 39.9% increase from the previous year. XLRI has also released the first copy of the official question paper for XAT 2024 on its official website.
XAT 2024 Exam
The exam comprised 101 questions—100 MCQs from four sections and one essay question. As per the analysis shared by test-takers, the difficulty level remained consistent with the previous year. XAT 2024 was reported to be moderately tough, with some sections posing notably challenging questions.
The distribution of questions across sections varied: Verbal and Logical Ability had 26 MCQs, QA&DI featured 28 MCQs, Decision Making contained 22 MCQs, and the General Knowledge section comprised 25 questions. Additionally, the exam included an essay requiring a 250-word response.
The XAT 2024 results are set to be declared on January 31, 2024. Given the single-shift examination format, the results will not undergo normalization. Subsequent to the announcement, various institutes accepting XAT scores will release MBA admission cutoffs.
XAT 2024 expected cut-off marks
The anticipated XLRI Jamshedpur cut-off is likely to range between 95-99 percentile. However, meeting the sectional cutoffs is essential for candidates to progress to further rounds such as Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI).
In accordance with the XAT exam pattern, candidates received 1 mark for a correct answer and faced a penalty of 0.25 marks for each incorrect response. Additionally, for eight consecutive unattempted questions, 0.10 marks were deducted. Notably, there were no negative marks for the General Knowledge section.
The GK section's scores were excluded from the calculation of the XAT score in 2024. The scores from the General Knowledge (GK) and Analytical Essay Writing (AEW) sections will be EXCLUSIVELY utilized by XLRI for its final selection process.
