‘He is a great man and leader for the people of India - they are lucky to have him!’: USA President Donald Trump calls PM Modi to congratulate him on ‘big political victory’
After extending his congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his thunderous Lok Sabha Elections victory, United States of America President Donald Trump personally called the Indian PM to convey his good wishes. The former termed PM Modi’s win as a ‘big political victory’ and described him as a ‘great man and leader of the people of India’ and that the country is lucky to have him as the leader.

After extending his congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his thunderous Lok Sabha Elections victory, United States of America President Donald Trump personally called the Indian PM to convey his good wishes. The former termed PM Modi’s win as a ‘big political victory’ and described him as a ‘great man and leader of the people of India’ and that the country is lucky to have him as the leader.
Trump on Friday tweeted, “Just spoke to Prime Minister @NarendraModi where I congratulated him on his big political victory. He is a great man and leader for the people of India - they are lucky to have him!”
Previously, the USA President had tweeted hours after PM Modi-led National Democratic Alliance’s landslide victory of over 350 seats, much more than the requisite halfway majority mark in the 543-seat Lok Sabha. “Congratulations to Prime Minister @NarendraModi and his BJP party on their BIG election victory! Great things are in store for the US-India partnership with the return of PM Modi at the helm. I look forward to continuing our important work together!”
PM Modi too posted an emphatic response, "Thank you @realDonaldTrump! This victory represents the aspirations of a nation of 1.3 billion people. I too am looking forward to working closely with you for closer bilateral ties, which also augur well for global peace and prosperity.”
President’s Advisor and daughter Ivanka Trump also had conveyed her best wishes to the PM, “Congratulations @narendramodi on a great victory! Exciting times ahead for the wonderful people of India!”

The Prime Minister had replied, “Thank you @IvankaTrump. Wishes from a true friend of India like you are invaluable.”
The heads of countries like the UK, Pakistan, France, Japan, China, Russia, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Bhutan, Australian and Canada also conveyed their wishes to PM before.
