Robert Vadra on Friday tweeted about the recent allegations of corruption at his father-in-law former PM Rajiv Gandhi.

He tweeted saying that the attacks at the former Prime Minister were terrible and being done to mislead the people of India.

"Politics is at an all time low. Hitting out at our assassinated PM Sh Rajiv Gandhi to mislead the people of India, is terrible. We, the family, will strive for his vision n the people of India will fight for his dignity and respect. It’s time for a respectful change in our country," he said.

Controversy had erupted after PM Narendra Modi called former PM Rajiv Gandhi "Brashtachari number 1" during one of his rallies on May 4.

He made the comment accusing the Congress and its president Rahul Gandhi of harping on the acquisition of Rafale aircraft only to tarnish his image. A huge row had broken over the comment after Congress took objection to it.

Later, PM Modi said on Wednesday in his poll rally at Delhi's Ramlila Maidan that the Nehru-Gandhi family misused and insulted the INS Viraat when former PM Rajiv Gandhi used the warship as a 'personal taxi' for himself and his in-laws for their vacation at an island in the Lakshadweep archipelago.

Since then a slew of charges against Gandhi and his period of governance made way into talking points including those on the alleged Bofors scam and the accusation of Congressmen being involved in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
