Massive Embarrassment: Oxford Dictionaries call out Rahul Gandhi's 'Modilie' bluff, confirm it as 'fake'

In a massive embarrassment for Congress chief Rahul Gandhi, Oxford dictionary has replied on his tweet that claimed that there a new word has been inducted in the English dictionary called 'Modilie.' Oxford Dictionaries clarified that the snapshot posted by him was fake and no such word exists in any of their dictionaries. 

In an attempt to attack Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday took to Twitter to post a picture which he claimed was a snapshot of Oxford dictionary that has inducted a new word in the English language called "Modilie", which means a person who constantly modifies truth, one who lies habitually, and one who lies without respite'.

However, on searching about the dictionary, Republic TV found that the dictionary that most resembles Rahul Gandhi's is the well-known Oxford Living Dictionary and it contains no word like Modilie. In contrast, Rahul Gandhi posted a snap of a dictionary called 'English living dictionary' showing that 'Modilie' means a person who constantly modifies truth, one who lies habitually, and one who lies without respite'.

Here is the snap of the Oxford dictionary that shows there no word called 'Modilie'. There is a striking resemblance between the two pages, with subtle differences such as the logo, which appears to form the letter 'O' in Rahul Gandhi's dictionary but forms the letter 'd' in the Oxford version.

Responding to the development, BJP MP GVL Narasimha Rao attacked the Congress president saying that nobody is taking Rahul Gandhi seriously and he has become a troll on social media. He went on to add that the Congress party's election campaigning has regenerated to a cheap level in the 2019 polls. 

"It clearly shows that Rahul Gandhi cannot speak to his own words. Only yesterday, one heard a comment from Rahul Gandhi, saying that 'let's not going down to accusing rival'. And now within 24 hours, you see Rahul Gandhi who is the chief of the "Gaali gang" of the Congress party. This is nothing but completely fake allegation. And this cheap level which the Congress party's campaign has regenerated in this elections, I think nobody is taking him seriously. He is nothing but a troll on social media," GVL Rao said.

Rahul Gandhi's latest lie comes at the culmination of an acrimonious campaign before the 2019 Lok Sabha polls which, as per the BJP, has seen the Congress president issue untruths at every turn, including the following:

• His campaign's primary plank being based on alleging a scam in the Rafale deal between India and France. In February, Rahul Gandhi had lent his weight to an alleged Ministry of Defence document which had highlighted that the Prime Minister's Officer had intervened in the MMRCA acquisition negotiations between the two countries. However, it later turned out that relevant sections of the document had been fatally cropped to push the Congress narrative.
• He has received a Home Ministry notice seeking clarification on his citizenship. This comes following documents emerging that show that in erstwhile London-based company Backops Ltd's filings, the Congress president, who was promoter, company secretary and director, had listed his citizenship as British. Furthermore, a related complaint via which an independent Amethi Lok Sabha poll candidate had attempted to challenge Rahul Gandhi's candidature also mentions discrepancies in the latter's educational qualifications and even his name - Raul Vinci vs Rahul Gandhi.
• Perhaps the biggest 'lie' that Rahul Gandhi has been accused of repeating (unabatedly) is over the farm loan waivers that the Congress had promised in the three Hindi heartland states in which it had come to power in the end-2018 assembly election polls in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh. While the Congress president has continued to boast that the farm loans were waived as promised within 10 days of the Congress forming governments in the states, as recently as last week, Madhya Pradesh CM Kamal Nath conceded that it hadn't been possible to waive loans in such a short time, the truth having been brought to light in Republic TV's sensational #OperationKarzMaafi sting expose.
