He said that on his death anniversary, the nation remembers the contribution of Nehru to the country and the society.

After the landslide victory of Prime Minister Modi in the Lok Sabha elections 2019 in which the party won 303 seats and became the first non-Congress party in India's history to bag such a huge number of seats. On May 27, the Prime Minister is also set to visit his constituency in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh from where he won the general elections.

Nehru emerged as an eminent leader of the Indian independence movement under the tutelage of Mahatma Gandhi and served India as Prime Minister from its establishment as an independent nation in 1947 until his death on May 27, 1964. A staunch advocate of socialism, secularism and democracy Pandit Nehru, he was also one of the important leaders from India’s freedom movement against the British rule.
Meanwhile, Congress leaders paid tributes to Nehru at his samadhi Shantivan. UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Congress chief Rahul Gandhi also paid their tributes.
