Responding to the comment by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi that he was 'Bhrashtachari No 1',(corrupt number 1), Rajiv's son and Congress chief Rahul Gandhi made a remark saying that PM Modi's 'karma awaits him'.
Taking to Twitter, Rahul Gandhi said that 'the battle is over'. He added that revealing what he feels about his father will not protect him from the upcoming consequence.
On Saturday, Prime Minister Modi while addressing an election rally in Uttar Pradesh commented on Rajiv Gandhi while speaking about the corruption under the Congress governments. He said:
"Your father was termed 'Mr Clean' by his courtiers, but his life ended as 'Bhrashtachari No 1' (corrupt number 1). By hurling abuses, you cannot turn the 50 long years of Modi's Tapasya (struggle) into dust. By tarnishing my image and by making me look small, these people want to form an unstable and a weak government in the country " PM Modi said.
On the other hand, Congress General Secretary of Uttar Pradesh East and Rahul's sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra alleged that Prime Minister insulted the 'martyrdom of a righteous'
"The Prime Minister is asking for votes in the name of martyrs, but he insulted the martyrdom of a righteous and holy man in his unbridled craze yesterday. Reply will be given by the people of Amethi for whom Rajiv Gandhi gave his life. Yes Modiji this country never forgives those who deceive", Priyanka Gandhi Vadra wrote on twitter.
Earlier on Saturday, Republic Media Network newsbreak had revealed links of Congress president Rahul Gandhi's to the UPA-era Scorpene submarine deal via his UK company business partner Ulrik McKnight. However, Rahul Gandhi has not responded on the given revelation despite claiming on Saturday's press conference that anyone can do any investigation against him regarding corruption.
