After casting his vote, Mukherjee took to Twitter to post a picture of himself and said that everyone must exercise their right in the largest democracy as elections are the largest festival in the country.

Apart from the national capital, voting in phase 6 will be held in 14 seats in Uttar Pradesh, 10 in Haryana, 9 in Bihar, 8 seats each in Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal and 4 in Jharkhand. Unprecedented security arrangements have been made in the state of West Bengal by the EC as the state has been witnessing extreme violence in the earlier phases of elections.

The contest in Delhi is crucial with the BJP looking forward to repeating its 2014 performance of winning all seven seats while AAP is trying to woo the voters on the basis of development work they have been doing in the state, Congress is also aiming to make a comeback in the state after it lost its presence owing to the 2011 anti-corruption movement.
