A day after the Congress party moved the Election Commission seeking action against PM Modi alleging that he violated the poll code with his 'Corrupt No.1' remark against former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, Union Minister Arun Jaitley has hit back at the Grand Old Party and its president Rahul Gandhi.
Taking to Twitter, the Finance Minister has asserted that no model code of conduct is preventing the Congress party and its president for calling an honest Prime Minister "chor".
He added that the Congress filed a complaint at the EC alleging that PM Modi violated the Model Code of Conduct after he called Congress legacy as ‘Corrupt No. 1’, asking if there are two Model Codes of Conduct.
Earlier on Sunday, Arun Jaitley lashed out at Rahul Gandhi asking him why he was getting disturbed over the integrity issues of the Rajiv Gandhi government referring to the Bofors scandal.
Later, calling him a 'dynast' the Finance Minister attacked the Congress Chief for questioning the integrity of Prime Minister Modi.
Controversy erupted over PM Modi's remarks on former PM Rajiv Gandhi wherein he had said that the Rajiv Gandhi ended his life as "Corrupt No. 1".
PM Modi, taking a jibe at Congress president Rahul Gandhi at a rally in Uttar Pradesh’s Pratapgarh on Saturday, had said: “Your father was termed ‘Mr. Clean’ by his courtiers but his life ended as ‘bhrashtachari’ (corrupt) number 1.”
Responding to PM Modi's comments on his father, Rahul Gandhi had taken to Twitter and reminded the Prime Minister of his "karma” with love and a huge hug.
