Shatrughan Sinha, who recently jumped ships from BJP to Congress has reacted to PM Narendra Modi's comment during his speech in Uttar Pradesh where he said that late former PM Rajiv Gandhi's 'life ended as 'Bhrashtachari No 1' (corrupt number 1)'.
Taking to Twitter, he said that the language used by PM Modi for the late former PM should be criticised. He also said that he would be correcting PM Modi's knowledge about the late Congress leader.
"India's former PM Rajiv Gandhi who sacrificed his life for the nation, for such a great man, the country's Prime Minister is using shallow and disrespectful language begets criticism. Sir ji, let me correct your general knowledge.
"Rajiv Gandhi was a such a personality who ruled not only this land but also the hearts of the people. Where are people taking politics in the country. I think this is the frustation of a disappointed person who has gone astray," he said.
PM Modi during his speech on May 4 while accusing the Congress and its president Rahul Gandhi of harping on the acquisition of Rafale aircraft only to tarnish his image, took a swipe at former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi.
"Your father was termed 'Mr Clean' by his courtiers, but his life ended as 'Bhrashtachari No 1' (corrupt number 1)," Modi said.
Congress president Rahul Gandhi and his sister launched an attack at PM Modi's comment on his father. A bevy of Congress leaders also hit out at PM Modi for the comment.
The BJP joined the war of words to remind the party of its own history of 'gaali politics' and the sense of entitlement the party leaders feel owing to 'dynast arrogance'.
