The assembly elections in Chhattisgarh found Congress on the winning side, and a similar scenario is projected in the state, with a close-battle predicted between the two national parties- BJP and Congress.
In the wake of the massive loss in the assembly elections in Chhattisgarh, the BJP has decided to drop all its 10 sitting lawmakers from the state. BJP General Secretary Anil Jain confirmed that the saffron party has decided to face the Lok Sabha elections with 'new candidates with fresh energy' to make it victorious under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Comparing the previous predictions:
March prediction: Congress-led UPA was predicted to secure 5 seats, and NDA predicted to win with 6 seats out of the total 11. Meanwhile, UPA had a vote-share of 40.6% and NDA was walking ahead with 46.2%, while Jogi lagged behind with 9.3% of vote-share.
January prediction: Out of the 11 Chhattisgarh seats up for grabs, Congress was projected to sweep the state with 6 seats, after outsing BJP in Assembly elections. As per the projections, the BJP, which got 10 seats in 2014 was projected to go down to 5 seats, one seat less than the UPA, thus leaving none for Ajit Jogi's Janta Congress Chhattisgarh.
