'No AAP-Congress alliance in Delhi', concedes Arvind Kejriwal after meeting Rahul Gandhi

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has conceded that the talks of a tie-up between AAP and Congress are now officially over, claiming Rahul Gandhi is the one who has put an end to all such possibilities.

The AAP convenor has said that he had an interaction with the Congress chief recently over the alliance, but the latter vehemently refused the idea and decided that the two parties should go alone in the National Capital.

He also took on Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) chief Sheila Dikshit, who has been opposing the AAP-Congress alliance since day one, saying she is not an important leader.

Both AAP and Congress had been bargaining hard since months to forge an alliance in order to fight against BJP in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls in Delhi. Though, there was opposition within both the parties on the tie-up.

This massive political development comes only a day after Republic TV had learnt through sources that the Congress chief had informed the party's Delhi unit of the decision to not join hands with the ruling party in the National Capital.

A late night meeting was reportedly held at the residence of Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) Sheila Dikshit on Saturday. which was attended by state leaders, as well as Rahul Gandhi.

The topic of discussion was the comments made by Kejriwal in an interview. The Delhi CM had said that his party was not interested for a tie-up in Delhi, and that they needed support of Congress only in Haryana.

Sources told Republic TV that Rahul Gandhi was miffed by the remarks of the AAP convenor, and in the meeting at Sheila's residence, announced his decision to not join hands with AAP to the party cadre.

There had been massive confusion within both camps when it comes to working together against the BJP for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls in the National Capital. 

While the AAP had earlier been in favor of a tie-up, it has, in the recent few weeks, the party has suggested that the two cannot work together. The ruling party in Delhi alleged that it had reached out to the grand old party, and that it was the Congress party which was creating hurdles, despite efforts made by leaders from across the country, especially NCP chief Sharad Pawar.
