Just like the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections, power of the South stars was very much on display in the second phase. After Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu went to polls on Thursday and among the celebrities, were numerous filmstars who queued up at the polling booths to exercise their right. After Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan and some of the others, veteran actresses like Khushbu Sundar, Meena, Devayani and Prabhu too participated in the festival of democracy.
Pictures of the actresses, who enjoyed immense popularity in the South and even acted in Hindi films, surfaced on social media and they were truly delighted.
Khushbu, who’s also a Congress leader, shared a delightful selfie on Instagram to convey her pride of exercising her right and wrote, “Exercised my duty as the citizen of my India.. got inkedddddd!!!! Go, get yours done.. the feeling of pride was after voting is immense.." (sic)
Her pictures on her way out of the voting booth had also surfaced.
Meena too proudly showcased her inked finger in the snaps that were shared on Twitter.
Devayani posed with her husband, director Rajakumaran, as they showcased the symbol of their votes.
Another veteran Prabhu was also snapped after voting along with son Vikram Prabhu and wife Lakshmi.
With 95 seats, 1619 candidates and 179880 polling booths at disposition the states that will go to polls on Thursday are:
Assam (5 seats), Bihar (5 seats), Chhattisgarh (3 seats), Jammu and Kashmir (2 seats), Karnataka (14 seats), Maharashtra (10 seats), Manipur (1 seat), Odisha (5 seats), Tamil Nadu (38 seats), Uttar Pradesh (8 seats), West Bengal(3 seats) and Puducherry (1 seat).
Twenty states with 91 seats went to polls during the Phase I of the Lok Sabha elections. The remaining five phases are spread till May 19, before the results are announced on May 23.
