Actor Rajpal Yadav on Saturday met Congress leader PC Chako in Delhi on Saturday to seek a ticket to fight elections against BJP's Manoj Tiwari. Earlier, pertaining to his candidature, the actor has provided a formula to the grand old party, stating that he would campaign on all the seven seats in the national capital.
On Wednesday, the political aspirant met with Delhi Congress chief Shiela Dixit at her residence, after which Yadav said that he was given the assurance of positive signs and that he might get a ticket on Thursday.
Mr. Yadav confirmed the meeting with the former Delhi chief minister and said he has often paid visits to Dikshit. He said he plans to contest the Lok Sabha election from Delhi.
A senior Delhi Congress leader said that Rajpal Yadav sought the party ticket from North East Delhi seat, currently held by Delhi BJP president and popular Bhojpuri singer-actor Manoj Tiwari.
"However, talks are on for an alliance with AAP and nothing is certain so far. So no commitment was made to him," said the Congress leader.
In 2016, Yadav had floated the Sarva Sambhav Party.
"Everything will be clear in 2-3 days," Yadav said when asked whether he will contest on a Congress ticket or as a candidate of his own outfit.
In 2014, Manoj Tiwari emerged victorious with almost six lakh votes in a contest against Congress' Jai Prakash Aggarwal from the North East Delhi constituency.
