Prime Minister Narendra Modi issued an open challenge at the Congress party and its president Rahul Gandhi to fight the 2019 Lok Sabha elections in the name of former PM Rajiv Gandhi. Taking to Twitter, PM Modi shared a video from his rally in Jharkhand's Chaibasa wherein he launched a scathing attack at the Congress party and Rahul Gandhi raising their objection to his comments on former PM Rajiv Gandhi.
In an open challenge at Congress, PM Modi demanded Congress leaders to contest the elections in the name of former PM Rajiv Gandhi in Delhi, Punjab and Bhopal, citing the Bofors deal scam, 1984 anti-Sikh riots and the Bhopal Gas Tragedy.
"Few days ago, I had called out the deeds of a member of the 'naamdar' family. These people (Congress) have been abusing the Prime Minister and his family. I only reminded about the earlier Bofors scam. I only said that and a tsunami came. Some people cried really hard over what I said. When you did not adhere to the limitations of the post of Prime Minister, you abused the post, I only said one thing - it stung you like a scorpion. The more these people will cry, the more people of this generation will become aware of their truths. How a family looted and destroyed the country in the 20th century, the youth of the 21st century should know," PM Modi said.
Issuing the challenge at Congress and Rahul Gandhi to fight elections in Delhi, Punjab and Bhopal in the name of former Rajiv Gandhi, PM Modi said:
"From this stage, I challenge the entire Congress party and the 'naamdaar' family if they have the guts to fight the elections in the name of former Prime Minister against whom there are accusations of Bofors scams in the next two phases. Come on the field and fight the elections in his name and let's see how the game is fought. Delhi's elections is still waiting, let's fight the elections in Delhi and Punjab in the name of the former PM and on the issues of his respect. Let's fight the elections in the name of former PM in Bhopal where the gas tragedy took thousands of lives. What the PM did in Bhopal will come out in open. This is my challenge. If you have the guts, come on the crease. Don't try to run, this is a democracy. Fight the elections on the same agenda - how was the Prime Minister, what all he did. I challenge the Congress party to accept my challenge."
