Shiv Sena's mouthpiece 'Saamna', on Thursday, has hit out at West Bengal Chief  Minister Mamata Banerjee in an article titled 'Jimmedaar kaun? (Who is responsible?), in which the Shiv Sena has stated that the violence rampant in West Bengal during the poll season was instigated by Banerjee through restricting BJP leaders from rallying in the state.

The article refers to the incident when violence erupted on Tuesday at BJP president Amit Shah's roadshow in Kolkata where BJP and Trinamool supporters clashed with each other leading to utter chaos.

"Not allowing senior BJP leaders to even step into West Bengal, what kind of hooliganism is this? No none would have stopped Mamtaji from campaigning against BJP in Gujarat," reads the article.

The article further accuses Banerjee of pandering to the Muslim vote by protecting the infiltrators entering West Bengal from Bangladesh. It states that her faith in uniting all Muslims to vote for her has been eroded by BJP's 'Hindutvavad', while questioning will Muslims in West  Bengal chant 'Vande Mataram' since Banerjee has stated they(TMC) will not chant BJP's slogan of 'Jai Shri Ram.'

It also condemns the attack on social reformer Ishwarchandra Vidyasagar's statue likening him to Mahatma Phule, saying that now the blame game has begun after the fall of the statue. The article ends slamming the CPI -(M) for sowing the seeds of violence and TMC for continuing it.

"While Amit Shah is not a 'god', Mamata (Banerjee) is also not a goddess or a saint. The violence in West Bengal was first sown by the 'Marxist' followers and thereafter they had to sacrifice their poltical rule. Now Mamata Banerjee is also doing the same, which is dangerous for the country and democracy," reads the article.

Earlier on Tuesday, violent clashes broke out during BJP president Amit Shah's roadshow in the heart of Kolkata, as sticks were hurled at Shah’s truck and even at the Police who were manning the crowd.

In an attempt to disrupt the roadshow, the attackers began attacking the Police and along with that, waved black flags, held placards and raised anti-BJP slogans outside the University of Calcutta.

Soon after, a scuffle broke out between the miscreants and the BJP workers, following which the Police resorted to lathi-charge. According to on-ground witnesses, the alleged supporters of various political parties were seen throwing bricks and bottles. The witnesses further said that many of them have been seriously injured during the clash.

On being blamed by the BJP for engaging in violence, Banerjee hit out at the BJP Chief asking whether protesting against him wasn't allowed. 'Don't people protest against me?' she asked. Going on to deny any Trinamool hand in the violence, Mamata Banerjee counter-accused the BJP of 'unleashing goons' inside Calcutta University to attack students there.
