Amit Shah appeals to voters in Haryana, says 'vote for development'
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President and Union Home Minister, Amit Shah has urged the people of Haryana to vote for development of the state, on Monday.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President and Union Home Minister, Amit Shah has urged the people of Haryana to vote on Monday. In his tweet which was shared in Hindi, Shah's message roughly translates to: "Casteism, familism and corruption have been the biggest inhibitors for the development of the state of Haryana. Your one vote for the development and nationalism will keep Haryana on the path of progress." Further, he appealed to the people and said, "All my brothers and sisters from Haryana vote and participate in the development process of the state." The polling for the 90 seat-assembly in Harayana started at 7 am and will continue till 6 pm on Monday.

One crore registered voters
According to reports, the state of Haryana is all set to fight a multi-cornered electoral contest with the BJP, Indian National Congress, Jannayak Janta Party, and 1,83,90,525 registered voters, including 85 lakh women and 252 transgenders. Over 1 crore voters will decide the fate 1,169 candidates and cast their votes. Further reports stated that there are around 5,741 polling stations in urban areas and 13,837 in rural areas according to the Election Commission and a total of 29,400 ballot units, 24,899 control units, and 27,611 VVPAT machines will be used for the 90-member Haryana assembly.
BJP campaigns in the state
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has campaigned big for this year's assembly elections. The party held several rallies all over the state with Prime Minister Narendra Modi holding four rallies in Haryana. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar is contesting from Karnal. The opposition leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda is contesting from his home constituency of Garhi Sampla-Kiloi in Rohtak District.
Khattar sets target
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar who is contesting from Karnal has set a target of 75 seats out of the total 90 assembly seats. BJP, who is the current ruling party, had won 48 seats last time, the Congress had won 17 seats. According to agency reports, 90 candidates from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), 87 from the BSP, four from the CPI, seven from the CPI-M, 90 from the Congress, one from the NCP, 81 from the Indian National Lok Dal, 375 Independent and 434 other candidates are contesting for the 2019 assembly elections.
Haryana Assembly polls
The polling for 90 seats-Haryana Assembly elections started at 7 am and will continue till 6 pm. The counting will be done on October 24. Further, the elections will be concluded on October 27.
