Arvind Kejriwal shifts the blame on Congress chief for no alliance between AAP-Cong, says "Sharad Pawar tried to mediate but Rahul Gandhi rejected"

Amid the war of words between the Congress party and Aam Aadmi Party for alliance in Delhi ahead of Lok Sabha polls, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday revealed that NCP chief Sharad Pawar tried to mediate communication between the two party for alliance, however, Cong chief Rahul Gandhi refused any interaction in the matter.

Addressing a press briefing in Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal said, "Congress is not communicating with us. Sharad Pawar tried to bring us together but Rahul Gandhi said no then and there only".

Later, he went on to hit out at the Congress party, saying that the Aam Aadmi Party is going to win all 7 seats in the Delhi elections, even without joining hands with the Rahul Gandhi-led party.

Earlier, at a public meeting in the Mustafabad area, the Delhi CM claimed his party tried persuading the Congress to forge an alliance, but said "it did not understand". He later termed the party "arrogant" adding that its candidates would lose their deposits in the polls.

"Congress (candidates) will lose their deposits in Delhi in Lok Sabha elections," he said.

Earlier, after Delhi Congress chief Sheila Dikshit announced no alliance with Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in New Delhi for the Lok Sabha polls, sulking AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal lashed out at the Rahul Gandhi-led party on social media. 

He then took to Twitter alleging that there are 'rumours' that 'Congress has some secret understanding with BJP in Delhi' adding that Congress is helping BJP by 'splitting anti-BJP votes'. Furthermore, speaking about an alleged 'Cong-BJP alliance in Delhi, Kejriwal claimed to defeat 'this unholy alliance'.

Delhi Congress chief Sheila Dikshit stated that the decision for no alliance with Arvind Kejriwal party was 'unanimously' by the party's top leaderhsip. 

"In the meeting we have unanimously decided against gathbandhan with the Aam Aadmi Party. The decision was taken before Rahul Gandhi so it is final. There is no alliance." 

Meanwhile, the United Front comprises of party leaders such as Congress president Rahul Gandhi, TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal, TDP's Chandrababu Naidu, NCP chief Sharad Pawar and NC leader Farooq Abdullah announced a pre-poll alliance on February 14 to take on ruling BJP-led NDA in the Lok Sabha polls 2019.
