Maharashtra Elections: The Election Commission filed an FIR against Maharashtra 's BJP General Secretary Vinod Tawde on Tuesday following allegations of distributing cash for votes in Palghar district. The accusations came from the Bahujan Vikas Aghadi (BVA), a regional party contesting independently in the state’s Assembly elections, just one day before voters head to the polls.The BVA, led by Vasai MLA Hitendra Thakur, has three sitting MLAs representing Vasai, Nalasopara, and Boisar constituencies. Thakur, along with his son Kshitij (contesting from Nalasopara) and sitting MLA Rajesh Patil (contesting from Boisar), is leading the charge against Tawde, claiming that he was caught distributing Rs 5 crore in cash to influence voters.The incident reportedly occurred at the Vivanta Hotel in Nalasopara, during a meeting between Tawde and BJP's candidate from Nalasopara, Rajan Naik.A video, shared widely on social media, shows BVA workers storming the hotel, capturing images and videos of what appears to be bundles of cash in a bag, while Tawde is seen seated at a distance. The BVA workers allege that Tawde was involved in vote-buying, leading to their accusations.Tawde denies all allegationsHowever, Tawde has vehemently denied the allegations.Speaking to ANI, he explained that the meeting was a routine gathering of BJP workers from Nalasopara, where discussions focused on the sealing of voting machines and the procedural process for raising objections during elections.#WATCH | BJP National General Secretary Vinod Tawde says, "...a meeting of MLAs of Nalasopara was underway.
