Congress and DMK Maintain Alliance for Upcoming Bypolls in 2019

During a press conference, Chief Election Commissioner, Sunil Arora, announced the by-election schedules on Saturday in New Delhi. The bypolls for the two constituency in Tamil Nadu, namely, Vikravandi and Nanguneri and the Kamaraj Nagar constituency in Puducherry will take place on October 21. The counting of votes will be done on October 24. The schedule of voting for the by-elections is same as that of the Maharashtra and Haryana Polls. Read: Maharashtra & Haryana Elections 2019 On October 21; Results On 24th By-Elections in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry The bypolls is being carried out in Nanguneri constituency due to the resignation of H Vasanthakumar from the Congress Party after he was elected from the Kanniyakumari constituency. And the vacancy in Vikravandi constituency is due to the death of the DMK member K Rathamani. Both DMK and Congress will be contesting for the by-elections in these two constituency in the upcoming polls. Congress will also be contesting for the vacancy in the Kamaraj Nagar constituency in Puducherry due to resignation given by V Vaithialingam from the Congress party. EC Announces Assembly Polls Dates & Schedules The ECI officials announced the dates and schedule for the Maharashtra and Haryana Legislative Assembly Polls on Saturday. The polls for both states will simultaneously occur in a single phase on October 21 and the polling will conclude on October 27. The Maharashtra legislative assembly will expire on November 9 and the Haryana Legislative Assembly will expire on November 2. Talking about registered voters, he said Haryana has 1.82 crore registered voters and Maharashtra has 8.94 crore voters.
