Barely hours after BS Yeddyurappa stepped down as Karnataka chief minister, reports have cited a purported wishlist doing the rounds of the Congress-JD(S)' presumed Chief Ministerial candidate HD Kumaraswamy Karnataka cabinet.
The list sees Kumaraswamy holding the two most important ministerial positions, Chief Minister and Finance Minister while the Congress' MLAs have been relegated to playing second-fiddle.
The biggest exclusion is to DK Shivakumar, the Congress leader who played an instrumental role in keeping the Congress' flock of MLAs together since the Karnataka Assembly elections threw up a hung assembly. Shivakumar, who was being pitched for the Deputy Chief Minister post, is instead in line to retain the same Power portfolio he held under the Siddaramaiah government -- something that may not be received well by the Congress.
The Deputy Chief Minister, meanwhile, will be G Parameshwara, the Karnataka Congress Chief, to whom Kumaraswamy also wants to hand the Home Minister portfolio.
Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, meanwhile, will be the leader of the Governing Party -- a role analogous to the one Sonia Gandhi held as National Advisory Committee (NAC) chairperson during the UPA.
Ramalinga Reddy, the former Karnataka Home minister, will be handed the Transport portfolio if Kumaraswamy has his way, whereas the Law and Parliament minister will be RV Deshpande, who had been embroiled in controversy before the elections after a car-full of cash he had allegedly ordered to be dispatched to another Congress candidate was seized by the I-T Department.
Here is the rest of Kumaraswamy's wishlist:
Minister of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj - HK Patil
Heavy Industries - AT Ramaswamy

Revenue - S Shivashankarappa
Health - UT Khader
Women and Child welfare - Lakshmi Hebbalkar
