Modi 3.0 Oath-Taking LIVE Updates

The media division of Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe's office said Modi invited him to the swearing-in ceremony. It said Wickremesinghe accepted the invite and congratulated Modi on the electoral victory in a phone call, news agency PTI reported

"During the conversation, Prime Minister @narendramodi invited President Wickremesinghe to his swearing-in ceremony, which President @RW_UNP accepted," it said.

Caretaker PM Modi also had a phone conversation with Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and invited her to attend his swearing-in ceremony which she accepted, diplomatic sources said.

Sources said that Nepalese Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay and Prime Minister of Mauritius Pravind Jugnauth will also attend the grand event in the national capital.

Modi had separate phone conversations with Prachanda.

Muizzu Arrives In India

Maldivian President Mohammed Muizzu arrived in New Delhi on Sunday morning to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 9 at Rashtrapati Bhawan in the national capital.

Earlier, PM Narendra Modi had invited Maldivian President Muizzu to attend the ceremony. This will be Muizzu's first official visit to India since he assumed office last year.

Munu Mahawar, Higher Commissioner of the Republic of India to the Republic of Maldives, presented the letter of invitation to the President during a courtesy call at his office.

Vice-President of Seychelles Ahmed Afif will also be present at the event.

The leaders of the regional grouping SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) countries had marked their presence at Modi's first swearing-in ceremony when he took oath as the prime minister after a massive electoral victory for the BJP.

Leaders of the BIMSTEC nations attended Modi's swearing-in ceremony in 2019 when he took the reins as the prime minister for the second consecutive term. Though the BJP could not get a majority on its own in the recently-held elections as it had expected, the party-led alliance NDA secured 293 seats in the 543-member House. The majority mark in the Lower House is 272.
