New Delhi: The BJP-JD(U) bonhomie was on display during the NDA Parliamentary Party meeting on Friday after Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar tried to touch Prime Minister Narendra Modi's feet in a humble gesture after his significant address.

PM Modi resisted Kumar from touching his feet and instead shook hands with the Bihar Chief Minister amid thunderous applause in the old Parliament.

PM Modi Elected as NDA Leader

As the BJP-led NDA bagged an absolute majority in the Lok Sabha election, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh proposed the name of Narendra Modi as the Leader of the BJP Parliamentary Party, Leader of the NDA Parliamentary Party and Leader of the Lok Sabha.

Among other leaders, Nitish Kumar too accepted the proposal and pledged to work with the NDA through every thick and thin.

Addressing the NDA Parliamentary Party meeting, the JD(U) leader said, “All the pending works of Bihar will be done. It is a very good thing that all of us have come together and we will all work together with you (PM Modi).”

In his signature humorous style of delivering speeches, Kumar said, “You (Modi) will be swearing in as the Prime Minister on Sunday, but I wanted you to do it today itself. Whenever you take the oath, we will be with you...We will all work together under your leadership.”

PM Modi is set to take oath for the third successive term on Sunday, June 9, confirmed Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi on Friday. It comes after the NDA parties crossed the halfway mark (272) by winning 292 seats, while the BJP alone bagged 240 seats.
