Maharashtra Elections: Varun Dhawan casts his vote in Mumbai
As polling began on October 21st, in all 288 Assembly constituencies of Maharashtra, Varun Dhawan came down to his designated polling station to cast his vote
Polling began on October 21st, 2019, in all 288 Assembly constituencies of Maharashtra where 3,237 candidates, including 235 women, are contesting elections. Several Bollywood stars including Aamir Khan, Dia Mirza, Govinda, were seen coming forward to vote and execute their rights. Actor Varun Dhawan also came down to his designated polling station on Monday to cast his vote. The actor was snapped outside the polling station flaunting his inked finger.

Meanwhile, several other stars like Madhuri Dixit, Lara Dutta, Madhur Bhandarkar, Riteish Deshmukh, and many others were spotted at their respective polling booths casting their votes.
Maharashtra elections
The 'Mahayuti' alliance of BJP-Shiv Sena and smaller parties is against the 'Maha-agadhi' led by the Congress and the NCP. The BJP is seeking a second straight term under Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in Maharashtra. In the saffron alliance, BJP will be contesting on 164 seats, and Shiv Sena will fight on 126 seats in Maharashtra. Alliance partners of BJP have fielded 14 candidates on the party's lotus symbol. Meanwhile, the Congress is contesting the polls in alliance with the NCP. Both parties are contesting on 125 seats each in the 288-member Assembly and its allies on the remaining 38 seats.
The opposition tried to corner the BJP government at the Centre and in the states on handling of the economy. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi blaming the ruling party for the economic slowdown and unemployment and highlighting issues like "failure" of demonetization and GST rollout.
