Shiv Sena leader Uddhav Thackeray recently notified the media that the seat-sharing pact is on the verge of being finalised. This comes amidst delay in declaring the seat-sharing pact for the Assembly elections. Thackeray stated that the talks between him and Union Minister Amit Shah have been progressing well. Furthermore, he stated that an announcement can be expected anytime soon now. In the past, the BJP and the Shiv Sena contested the 2014 State Assembly elections separately after they failed to arrive at a seat-sharing formula.
Thackeray on the upcoming assembly elections
Thackeray in an address to party workers and ticket aspirants at the Rang Sharda Auditorium, Bandra, notified the people that he is all set to fulfil the dreams he had made to his father Bal Thackeray. Further stating his aim, he said that the goal is to make a Shiv Sainik (party worker) the Chief Minister of Maharashtra. Thackeray spoke of the alliance stating that if the alliance were to materialise, the Shiv Sena party is not going to be the one to ‘backstab’ and it would further oppose openly if it had to. Speaking of his promise made to his father, Thackeray asserts that the main goal is to make sure that the Sena comes in power.
‘I had promised Balasaheb that I will make a Shiv Sainik the chief minister of Maharashtra. I have vowed to fulfil this promise,’ Uddhav Thackeray said in a statement.
Thackeray on an alliance with the BJP
Uddhav Thackeray stated that if the alliance with the BJP materialises, the Shiv Sena will make sure that the BJP wins in all the seats that they contest. Thackeray added that he wants to strengthen the party in all the constituencies. Furthermore, he also said that the BJP's support should be prevalent for the Shiv Sena as well. In conclusion, Thackeray asked the people to have faith in him and trust him so that he can confidently move ahead in the path of progress.
