CM Zoramthanga, stands out as one of the most prominent figures in this election. Having previously won Aizawl East - I in the 2018 assembly elections, he is once again contesting from the same constituency. ZPM has nominated their party vice president, Lalthansanga, as a contender against the three-time Chief Minister. Whereas, the Congress party has nominated Lalsanglura Ralte, a first-time candidate, to contest against the Chief Minister.
ZPM chief Lalduhoma is contesting from Serchhip, where he is the present MLA. In the last elections, Lalduhoma secured 35.4 per cent votes, defeating the Congress' Lal Thanhawla, which got 32.7 per cent votes.

Exit Poll predicts clear edge to CM Zoramthanga
Mizoram Exit Poll Result 2023: Matrize prediction
Matrize’s exit poll shows clear win for Chief Minister Zoramthanga’s Mizo National Front (MNF) in Mizoram. The MNF is predicted to get 17-22 seats, the Congress 7-10 seats, and the BJP 01-02, while ZPM may land 07-12 seats.
In a high-stakes battle for political supremacy in Mizoram, Chief Minister Zoramthanga's Mizo National Front (MNF) is gearing up to defend its stronghold against a formidable two-pronged challenge. The Zoram Peoples Movement (ZPM) and the Congress have joined forces in a six-party alliance, setting the stage for a fiercely contested assembly election.
In 2018, BJP's NDA ally MNF scored a landslide win with 26 seats in the kitty. The BJP, a minor player in the regional alliance, barely opened its account with just one seat. While the BJP would want to change that record, the Congress hopes to return to its past glory. Both the parties, however, will have to go past the regional challenge posed by MNF and ZPM.
(MATRIZE exit poll methodology: MATRIZE has attempted to gauge voters' opinion in the exit poll. The samples in this survey have been collated by speaking to various people. Our team has collected samples from 678 seats in 5 states. We have collated 323800 samples from 5 states. 145710 women and 178090 have been part of the survey. Samples have been collected from November 7, 2023 to November 30, 2023. There could be +-3 difference in the results.)

Preparations underway for counting
Elaborate arrangements have been made for the counting of votes for the assembly elections in Mizoram. The state's Additional Chief Electoral Officer H Lianzela told PTI that the counting will begin in all 13 centres at 8 am amid tight security.
One counting hall has been set up for each of the 40 assembly seats at these 13 centres, he said.
Postal ballots will be counted first, and from 8.30 am, the votes polled in the EVMs will be counted, he added. Besides three counting centres in the Aizawl district, which has 12 assembly constituencies, one centre each has been set up in the 10 other districts, Lianzela said.
In some of the seats that have a lesser number of voters, only two rounds of counting will be held, but in most of the constituencies, five rounds will be counted, he said. More than 4,000 personnel will be involved in the counting process. In all, there will be 399 tables for the EVMs and 56 for the counting of postal ballots, he said.
The MNF, ZPM and Congress contested 40 seats each, while the BJP fielded candidates in 13 seats. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which contested the assembly polls here for the first time, fought in four seats. Also, there were 17 Independent candidates.
Some exit polls have predicted a clean sweep by the ZPM, but the majority indicated a hung House with no party getting a clear majority.
In the last assembly elections, held in 2018, the MNF had won 26 seats and the ZPM secured eight seats, relegating the Congress that bagged five seats to the third place. The BJP had won one seat. PTI CORR SOM
