MP Assembly Polls: Congress releases revised list of star campaigners

Congress on Saturday released revised list of star campaigners for Madhya Pradesh Assembly polls.

Congress released a revised list of Star Campaigners of Indian National Congress for the elections to the forthcoming Madhya Pradesh Assembly which includes party chief Mallikarjun Kharge on the top of the campaigners. 

Other prominent leaders include Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, party's interim president Sonia Gandhi, KC Venugopal among other. 

Other leading personalities include MP former CM Kamal Nath, Madhya Pradesh opposition leader Govind Singh, former chief minister and Rajya Sabha member Digvijaya Singh, chief minister of Chhattisgarh Bhupesh Baghel, and chief minister of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot.

The party in the notification said, "The following leaders of Indian National Congress, who would be campaigning as per Section 77(1) of Representation of People Act 1951, for the ensuing general election to the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly to be held on 17" of November, 2023." 

The Congress party has announced its candidates for 230 assembly. 

The names of the candidates in the party's three lists have been released: 144 on the first list, 88 on the second list (which includes the replacement of three candidates), and one name on the third list.

Among the five states holding elections this year is Madhya Pradesh. Election day in the state is set for November 17 and the vote count is set for December 3.

With 114 seats and a 41.5% vote share in 2019, the Congress became the state's largest party. After taking office as chief minister, Kamal Nath quickly lost his position due to a rebellion headed by Jyoiraditya Scindia.
