Sachin Pilot: I'm confident, Congress to get more seats than expected

Ahead of the Haryana assembly election results, the Deputy CM of Rajasthan, Sachin Pilot, said that the Congress Party will draw more seats than they expected

Ahead of the Haryana assembly election results, the Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan and the President of the Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee Sachin Pilot on Thursday said that he was confident that the Congres Party will win the elections. He also said that the party was drawing more seats than they had expected. The results of the Haryana's 90-seat Assembly which went to polls on October 21 will be declared on Thursday.

Speaking to the media, Sachin Pilot said, "We are growing in numbers. The entire party had worded hard and fought this election. When we are in power the people have seen our work. I am confident that the results will be in our favor. Even in other states, the results are showing an increase in numbers as compared to the exit polls. I think till the final results come out Congress will get more seats than expected."

The official EC trends show BJP leading in 39 seats, while Congress leads in 29 seats. The deciding factor, JJP, leads in 11 seats in the 90-seat battle for Haryana Assembly. With BJP CM Manohar Lal Khattar eyeing a second term, the main opposition to the saffron party is Congress which is eyeing to stop BJP's ever-expanding base in the states across India. Another minor party in the battle is the once strong Chautala clan's JJP and INLD.

Polling on October 21

With over 1.83 crore voters, 19,578 polling stations had been set up on October 21. The final turnout in the State was recorded as 65%. The polling also saw former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda displaying his callous behaviour by breaking the queue to cast his vote. Hooda could be seen pushing women and elderly people aside to make his way to the polling booth. Other major athletes-cum-politicians like Babit Phogat, Sushil Kumar also were spotted voting.
