'83: Boman Irani's special role in the Ranveer Singh multistarrer

'83 is a film directed by Kabir Khan and stars Ranveer Singh as Kapil Dev. The film narrates the journey of the Indian cricket team when they won the World Cup

Bollywood actor Boman Irani had recently joined the cast of the film, '83.  Easily one of the most anticipated films of 2020, '83 stars Ranveer Singh essaying the role of the Indian cricket team captain, Kapil Dev. The film narrates the journey of the cricket team's triumph at the 1983 Cricket World Cup held in England. India won the World Cup in 1983 when the Men in Blue defeated the reigning champions, West Indies, in the nail-biting final that captivated a whole nation.

'83 is directed by Kabir Khan 

Boman Irani will be seen essaying the role of the veteran cricketer Farokh Engineer in the film. Farok Engineer is one of the most celebrated test cricketers to have played the game in India. Speaking about his role in '83, Boman Irani said that Farokh Engineer was the only Indian commentator for the 1983 World Cup. He also added that his story in the film, along with co-commentator Brian Johnson's, runs parallel to the main narrative of '83. 

Boman Irani joined the cast of the film during their shooting schedule at the iconic Lords' stadium in London. He was there for a few days for shooting. Post that, Boman joined the cast during their shooting schedule in Mumbai. Incidentally, the film wrapped up shooting a few weeks back.

'83 will release on April 10, 2020

The film is directed by Kabir Khan and produced by Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, Reliance Entertainment, Kabir Khan, Madhu Mantena, and Deepika Padukone's production company. '83 also stars Saqib Saleem as Mohinder Amarnath, Tahir Raj Bhasin as Sunil Gavaskar, Jatin Sarna as Yashpal Sharma, Pankaj Tripathi as the manager of the cricket team in 1983. Deepika Padukone also has an extended cameo appearance as Kapil Dev's wife, Romi Dev. Pritam has provided music for the film.
