Bhool Bhulaiyaa is one of the most popular Bollywood phycological thrillers to have ever been made and it was announced this year that a sequel for it was in works. Titled Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, the sequel will star actor Kartik Aaryan in the lead role, who is most well known for his work in the Pyaar Ka Punchnama movies. Alongside Kartik, the film will also feature Kiara Advani. Now it has been announced that Tabu too will join the league.
Tabu's role in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2
Vidya Balan’s role as Manjulika was one of the highlights of the first instalment, Bhool Bhulaiyaa. And now, for the sequel, Tabu will be stepping into her shoes to play a similar role. A source told an entertainment portal that the original plan for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 was to reprise Vidya Balan and Akshay Kumar in their original iconic roles. However, that was not possible due to a falling out between Akshay and T-Series, the production company for the sequel. After Akshay Kumar pulled out of the project, Vidya Balan also followed suit and the original lead cast of the first film were no longer associated with the sequel.
The source then told the portal that the development team needed a strong older heroine to play the iconic role of Manjulika. They approached Tabu before but she initially rejected them. However, now it seems that the producers and Tabu have come to a mutual agreement and the actor will finally be featured in the film. While we know that Tabu is a brilliant actress, we will have to wait and watch if she matches up to Vidya Balan's act.
Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is directed by Anees Bazmee whose other prominent works include Welcome and Singh Is Kinng. The movie is being produced by T-Series and Cine1 Studios. The movie is set to release on July 31, 2020.
