Aashiqui 2
The film was a successor to the 1990 release musical film Aashiqui, which was also a massive hit at the box office. Aashiqui 2 went on to become Vishesh Film's highest-grossing film of all time. In the film, we see Aditya Roy Kapur in the lead role as a singer named Rahul. He is one of the best, but in a tragic turn of events, he becomes an alcoholic. Later, he meets a small-time singer, Arohi, played by Shraddha Kapur. He makes all her dreams of becoming a big singer come true and then dies at the end of the movie.
Kalank
The film was touted as one of the biggest films of the year. Set in the pre-independent India in the city of Husanabad, it is the story of Satya Chaudhry (Sonakshi) learning that she’s suffering from cancer. Upon realising this, she heads back to her native village and requests her childhood friend, Roop (Alia Bhatt), to provide companionship to her husband, Dev Chaudhry (Aditya Roy Kapur).
When Roop moves in the Chaudhry house, she meets Zafar (Varun Dhawan) in the city. Zafar aims to seduce Roop as he wants to exact revenge from Balraj for abandoning him and his mother Bahaar Begum (Madhuri Dixit). The film, however, did not fare well at the box office.
