Though Indians have often termed as being underrepresented in Hollywood, many have showcased their acting chops internationally over the years. More focus towards Bollywood stars going West made headlines when Priyanka Chopra and then Deepika Padukone worked in major ventures opposite big names in recent years. A few days ago, Dimple Kapadia being cast in ace filmmaker Christopher Nolan’s ‘Tenet’ was the talk of the town. Now, Huma Qureshi has followed the veteran actress to be signed by a well-known Hollywood director, Zack Snyder for his Netflix film ‘Army of the Dead’ also starring Dave Bautista.

The streaming giant announced the news in a statement. Later, the hashtag #HumaArmyOfTheDead started trending on Twitter as soon as the news went viral as trade analyst Taran Adarsh and others shared it.

Snyder is known for helming films like ‘300’, ‘Man of Steel', ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice', ‘Justice League' and as a writer/executive producer for films like ‘Wonder Woman' and ‘Aquaman.’

As per reports, the plot of 'Army of the Dead' is based in Las Vegas after a zombie outbreak. The story traces a massive heist attempted by a group of mercenaries. Incidentally, Snyder's debut directorial 'Dawn of the Dead', that released in 2004, was also about zombies.

Huma recently signed another veteran director Deepa Mehta's web series 'Leila', also for Netflix.

Before 'Army of the Dead', Huma had worked in another internationally known filmmaker Gurinder Chadha's 'Viceroy's House'/'Partition:1947', that had released in English and Hindi in 2017.
