After taking the Indian box office by storm, Akshay Kumar's 'Kesari' heads to Japan. Here's the new poster

Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar took to social media to announce that his latest stint, 'Kesari' is slated to be released in Japan

After taking the Indian box office by storm, Akshay Kumar's 'Kesari' heads to Japan. Here's the new poster

Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar took to social media and announced that his latest stint 'Kesari' is slated to be released in Japan on August 16, just a day after India's Independence Day. Sharing the news of the film's release and the new poster he wrote that it is based on the 'bravest battles ever fought'.

The film is based on the Battle of Saragarhi that was fought between 21 soldiers of the Sikh Regiment of British Indian Army against 10,000 Afghans in 1897. 'Kesari' stars  Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra in the lead roles, with Kumar portraying the role of Havildar Ishar Singh. Produced by Akshay's Cape of Good Hope Films and Karan Johar's Dharma Productions, 'Kesari' is helmed by Anurag Singh and hit the domestic box office theatres on March 21, 2019. 

 'Kesari' was the top grosser of 2019 minting over Rs 100 crore at the box office. The film earned Rs. 21.06 crore on its first day, making it the biggest opener at the time. Minting Rs 77 crores on the opening week, it gained rave reviews from audiences as well as critics.

And now after a splendid success at the India box office, 'Kesari' is all set to take over the theatres of Japan. However, it is not the only Bollywood film which has previously released in Japan. Earlier films in the likes of 'Mom' 'Andhandhun'  have created a storm at the Japanese box office and was highly appreciated by the audiences.
