How did the love story start?

Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan met on the sets of their first movie together, Dhaai Akshar Prem Ke. They later also got together for another film, Kuch Naa Kaho. While shooting these movies, the two were just friends. They had even casually met up while Aishwarya was working on her film, Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya. She was cast opposite Abhishek’s good friend, Bobby Deol.

At that time, Aishwarya Rai was involved with Salman Khan. Abhishek Bachchan was engaged to Karisma Kapoor. Aishwarya and Salman split up and it was reported that she got involved with Vivek Oberoi. All these relationships did not last very long.

It is reported that sparks flew during the filming of the song Kajra Re in the film Bunty Aur Babli. The love story took another level when Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan were shooting for Umrao Jaan, Guru, and Dhoom 2. Abhishek Bachchan had revealed in an earlier interview that after the screening of their film Guru in New York, he proposed to Aishwarya. The couple tied the knot on April 2007.
