Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is among the topmost influential actors from Bollywood. She hails from Mangalore, Karnataka and completed her studies from Mumbai University. She was an architecture student when she came second in Miss India 1994 pageant. The following year, she was crowned the new Miss World. She was only 21 years old when she represented India at the Miss World contest. In the year 2009, she was honoured with Padma Shri by the Government of India and in 2012 she was given Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the Government of France.
Career:
She is today widely regarded as one of the most beautiful women in Bollywood. In 1997, she was offered her first Hindi movie, Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya. Her first commercially successful movie was a Tamil romantic movie, Jeans (1998), through which she won many hearts and people were awed by her beauty and charm. Like many other models and actors, Aishwarya too faced the criticism of being called a beautiful model with zero acting skills. But she turned those criticisms around by winning the Filmfare Best Actress award for her performance in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999). Once she created a space for herself in the Bollywood industry as an actor, she started receiving critical praise for her performances in movies like Devdas (2002), Raincoat (2004), Provoked (2006), Jodha Akbar (2008), and Guzaarish (2010)

Social work:
Aishwarya has always been an ardent social activist. She has been a brand ambassador for The Eye Bank Association of India and Pulse Polio. The actor has been the Goodwill Ambassador of Smile Train and UNAIDS. She is known to have established a school in the Daulatpur village of U.P. for underprivileged girls and has always extended help in raising funds and awareness during natural calamities.
Mrs. Bachchan
In 2007, she married actor Abhishek Bachchan. The couple had done many movies together, including Guru (2007), Kuch Naa Kaho (2003), and Dhoom 2 (2006). Even after marriage, Aishwarya did not stop appearing in movies. Ae Dil Hai Mushkil was one of her most commercially successful movies. Abhishek and Aishwarya in 2011 had a daughter, named Aaradhya Bachchan. Aishwarya recently lent her voice for the Hindi version of the Hollywood movie, Maleficent 2. The actor has dubbed for the character played by Angelina Jolie.
