Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was reportedly the first choice for the character Tina from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Read ahead why the Devdas actress rejected the role.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has delivered a number of hits in her career-Devdas, Jodhaa Akbar and Dhoom 3 to name a few. The actor was last seen in the 2018 Atul Manjrekar film Fanney Khan, alongside Anil Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao. She made her Bollywood debut with Aur Pyar Ho Gaya in the year 1997. Since then, there has been no looking back for her.
Why Aishwarya Rai Bachchan rejected the role of Tina from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was reportedly Karan Johar’s first choice for the role of Tina from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Due to unavailability of the required date, the role was offered to Rani Mukerji. As per an interview given by Aishwarya to a media portal, Karan Johar approached her but she couldn't take up the role due to prior commitments. She added that at point of time, she did not want to play a character like Tina that would require her to go back to her modelling days. She, however, shared words of appreciation for Rani Mukerji who ended up playing the role later.
Role of Tina in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai
Kuch Kuch Hota hai has given us a few evergreen characters. The film has three significant characters- Rahul, Tina and Anjali. Rani Mukerji, who is seen playing the role of Tina in the film, is a college diva who can pull off any look. Tina is the daughter of the principal of Rahul and Anjali's college and a graduate from a university in London. She ends up falling in love with Shah Rukh Khan's character, Rahul Khanna. The two get married later in the film. However, things, eventually, do not end up well for Tina.
The evergreen film, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai
Kuch Kuch Hota Hai was released in the year 1998. The film was a huge success at the box office. This was the film that made Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol's pair an evergreen hit. It also stars Salman Khan in a significant role. The film was directed by Karan Johar and produced by his father, Yash Johar. The film was critically acclaimed for its plot and performance. Kuch Kuch Hota hai also won a number of Filmfare and Zee Cine Awards for Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress and many others.
